Walking Your Promise

Gloucestershire, England

Away-from-it-all nature retreats in rolling Gloucestershire countryside

These life-affirming, private 'learning through nature' retreats take place in the ancient forest and wild grassland of May Hill and can be done alone or in a group. The immersion in nature is designed to shift you from thinking to feeling, and help you connect to your own inner truth, develop empathy and compassion, and make decisions about yourself, your life and your relationships.

our Reviewer Carissa Bub says:

‘I didn't need to see the magic to feel just how much my heart had expanded over less than 24 hours. I felt connected, not just to every living thing around me, but to galaxies I could not even see’

Queen of Retreats says:

‘This retreat draws on Danny Shmulevitch's experiences growing up in the Sinai Desert and living with the semi-nomadic Sawad tribe near his family home in Galilee. His passion and wisdom are exhilarating, he’s an excellent listener, and you’ll feel safe and held in his company. Follow Danny’s instructions for packing and don’t overpack’

Experiences

Come alone or join a group retreat. Activities are designed to connect you with the elements and dissolve the division between your own inner nature and the nature all around you. You’ll meditate in woodland, walk barefoot through forests, scale May Hill and sleep in comfort under the stars.

On day one you’ll walk through the ancient woodland of May Hill to arrive at the camp. You'll learn to embrace the power of the heart and explore a more powerful way of feeling and connecting with the world. Expect creative conversation and grounding action.

On day two Danny will guide you in a day of fasting and quiet contemplation to discover the orientation of your energy field, gain clarity and connect deeply with your physical body and nature. On day three you'll break the fast and ‘walk your promise’. You'll walk to the top of May Hill, where you'll experience what is possible when you engage and reconnect with your essential energetic nature.

Spaces

You'll have a vast expanse of nature at your disposal - no excuse for not going deep and embracing peace.

Your base is a private, beautiful, candle-lit den complete with bed, sheepskin and blanket. It’s private on one side and looks out on to the forest on the other side.

You’ll gather round a campfire to sit and chat with Danny, surrounded by sheepskin-covered logs and chairs.

Sustenance

All meals are vegetarian and made using locally grown and organic produce. They’re the work of chefs at the acclaimed Star Anise arts cafe in Stroud. Their conscious choice of ingredients and ability to cook outdoors offers a new level of flavour and nourishment.

In the woods you’ll sip on a wonderfully warming brew of orange peel, turmeric, ginger and lemon.

There is one day of fasting, when you are encouraged to drink plenty of water from the holy spring of St Anthony to cleanse and resuscitate your body. It also makes the pre and post-meal extra delicious.
