What’s Queenly?

ila is the creation of the talented and inspired Denise Leicester, a registered nurse aromatherapist and yoga teacher who has studied both Eastern and South American traditions of healing and who walks her talk, so everything you experience here will have been carefully thought through and delivered from the heart.

What’s Lowly?

Accommodation isn’t included in this retreat, and the workshops need a minimum number of people to go ahead (5 for the adult workshops, 10 for the children’s ones).

Retreat Activities

Devised by ila’s founder Denise Leicester and led by welcoming and experienced yoga teacher and therapist Sophie Andrews, these wellness workshops offer carefully thought out and genuinely uplifting bespoke experiences for children, families and busy women.

The day-long women’s wellness workshops include a yoga session and breathing exercises, a guided meditation walk, sound healing, and a healthy lunch. You will also get to make your own product (a body oil or bath salts scrub) the ila way, enjoy a relaxing 30 minute ila treatment of your choice and a chance to unwind in the hot tub, have a swim or read a book. Take home with you your own personally made product, a blessing card, a rose quartz heart and a blessing bracelet.

The afternoon wellness workshops especially for families include a yoga session and breathing exercises, a sound healing, and a introductory wellness talk covering the chakra system, the healing power of nature and sound and self care. You will also get to make your own product (a body oil or bath salts scrub) the ila way, and to learn to deliver a ‘coming-back-together’ treatment, such as an Indian head massage, which guests learn to give to each other. Take home with you you’re own personally made product, a blessing card, a rose quartz heart and a blessing bracelet.

A great way to introduce children to wellbeing or as an alternative idea for children’s parties, these original holistic workshops include a yoga session and breathing exercises, sound healing and singing, when all the children can try using the sound healing bowl and learn a simple mantra, a wonderfully soothing introduction to the therapeutic value of sound. There’s a small talk on energy and vibration and how this relates to our bodies, and on understanding and loving our skin. You will also get to make your own product (a body oil or bath salts scrub) the ila way, and take home with you you’re own personally made product, a blessing card, a rose quartz heart and blessing bracelet.

On each retreat you will get to make your own product (a body oil or bath salts scrub) the ila way, and you will undoubtedly also be tempted to buy some of their own to take home. ila produces delicious products in clean white containers and colourful packaging that use genuinely natural ingredients. Most are organic, and where they are not it is because ila believes they have found an alternative of even greater purity, such as rose oil from a single source in the foothills of the Himalayas, or argan oil from the lower Atlas Mountains of Morocco..

Personal spaces

ila’s wellness workshops are held during the daytime and do not include accommodation, but to create your own retreat and avoid rushing home we would urge you to book an overnight stay nearby. ila can advise you on dif-ferent options in the pretty village of Woodstock, but you need to book the accommodation directly. We particularly like the boutique B&B The Glove House, which has ila products in its rooms (book these directly at theglovehouse.co.uk).

Insider Tips

You can also include a hamper of ila goodies for an extra £50 for children, or £100 for adults. All you need is provided – just come wearing comfortable clothing.

When to Go

The Cotswolds are beautiful throughout all seasons, and each workshop can be tailored slightly depending on the weather, so that on sunny days, you might eat or do yoga outside, for example.

Shared places

The workshops are held at the ila head office, which is a barn in the English countryside with lovely gentle green views of the rolling Cotswold hills of Oxfordshire. Inside the barn, the scent of essential oils mingles with the gentle sound of Eastern chanting. It’s a beautiful place of peace, and it’s where ila products are blended – by hand, in small fresh batches, and using simple techniques based on an intuitive and heartfelt approach.

Workshops take place in a space with white walls, Cotswold beams and wooden floors, with splashes of the ila bright colours here and there. ila music and scent fills the space. For the Women’s Wellness workshops, there is also access to a heating outdoor swimming pool and hot tub at Denise’s nearby home.

Sustenance

Sugar-free healthy, organic vegetarian snacks and smoothies are provided on the children’s and family workshops, in a special workshop breakout area or outside if the weather is lovely.

Sustainability

The ingredients that ila uses in its products are natural and ethical. It works directly with growers and farmers to support local communities and promote ancient knowledge, and each ingredient is painstakingly sourced for its physical, emotional and spiritual benefits. Star ingredients include Argan oil, Himalayan salt crystals over 250 million years and Rose Otto Damascene. ila also uses its own spring water.
