What’s Queenly?

The quality of the all inclusive treatments are very impressive, and the energy treatments are particularly special and worth trying. The yoga platform by the beach allows for a wonderful morning yoga experience.

What’s Lowly?

Along the beach, away from the resort, there is a lot of development going on which spoils the romance of long beach walks.

Retreat Activities

Design your own retreat by combining your daily inclusive treatments with your choice from the activities in the Natural Living Programme, which usually includes up to 6 classes a day.

There is a generous spa menu to choose from as part of your quota so you can vary your daily experience. There are massages for some therapeutic body work, body wraps and scrubs and facials for some pampering, and even nail art for fun. The Maia Spa Fusions combine two treatments to give you a longer, more luxurious experience.

Breathwork and yoga starts at the beach daily at 7am (if weather allows). The daily theme leads you to an intention and outcome such as “Butterfly Breathing” for an open heart and freedom of expression, or “Be Active Yoga” for building strength and expression. There are two daily classes including Fusion Flow and Fusion Restore, and an evening mindfulness session with a daily focus such as Mindful Giving and Receiving. The 11 Vietnamese resident yoga teachers have all been trained and certified by a Rishikesh Yogashala school in India.

Tai Chi, otherwise known as moving meditation, is taught every evening just before the mindfulness session to help you wind down. At each class you will learn a portion of the 18 simple movements, so by day 4 you should be able to go through the whole routine in a fluid, graceful and continuous way, helping you improve your posture and relax.

If you want a fitness challenger, there is a ‘warrior fitness’ programme that changes daily and combines martial arts Kung Fu style moves with functional fitness exercises. Daily themes include ‘crouching tiger’, improving inner strength and courage, to ‘lean leopard’ to help improve digestion and agility. There is also a daily 10,000 steps beach walk to help you get some cardio exercise.

Reiki and meridian therapies feature throughout the spa menu to achieve a sense of balance and allow for a free flow of energy for body and mind. The spa conducts regular Reiki training for its therapists as part of their dedication to energy healing, and there are very talented Reiki Masters available for extra treatments (at a cost).

There are juicing and vegan programmes available at an extra cost, where you can have three treatments a day and mix and match juicing with vegan food to suit your requirement. So for example you could have juices during the day, and a vegan meal in the evening, or exclusively juicing days or plant-based days. The programmes also include a juicing workshop so you can learn the principles to take home with you.

Fusion Maia also run dedicated Re-Treats to help you adopt a sustainable healthy lifestyle using an 80/20 rule - 80 percent good, 20 percent of a little of what you fancy. Choose from 3, 5 or 7-night packages, which include 3 customized spa treatments per day, a private yoga or meditation session, and advice on how to adopt a plant-based lifestyle. The longer you stay the more activities are included.

It is worth venturing out and about and visiting Hoi An for a cultural experience and a touch of shopping by using the daily complimentary shuttle bus. Also nearby is Marble Mountain, a pilgrimage site with temples, caves and tunnels and great views over Danang. Ask your Fusionista to organise a bike tour there.

Visit Fusion Café, located in the UNESCO Heritage Old Town of Hoi An, for food and beverage inspired by the flavours and cultures of Hoi An. Sample the creative range of fresh spring rolls, infused Asian-inspired soda pops, or enjoy a delicious homemade pastry with Vietnamese coffee. They also have a selfie photo-booth and complimentary bicycles for hire.

When to Go

The best months to go for sunny beach weather are May to July. The rain traditionally falls in November and December and the coolest months are December and January, although ‘cool’ here means on average 23 degrees centigrade.

Shared places

The Spa: The spa has a real feeling of serenity and beauty with tropical gardens, a swimming pool with its own waterfall that’s surrounded by green lushness so that you feel like you are in your own tropical lake. Most guests hang out by the main pool and the beach, so at times it can be your own private oasis. The treatment rooms are cool with white walls and drapes, and there is a steam room, sauna, two beauty salons and a great spa boutique that sells items like rose quartz crystals and beautifully decorated notebooks.

Shared places

The Main Pool & Beach: The very sexy infinity pool lends itself to great Instagram shots with views beyond to the stunning beach and South China Sea. Cream cabanas are dotted around the beach where you can lie for hours reading or gazing into the ocean. The vibe is calm and serene with no loud music or rowdy guests.

Shared places

Yoga spaces: The outdoor yoga platform by the beach is worth noting as there is nothing better than listening to the waves and feeling the sea breeze whilst in meditation or flowing through your asanas. When the weather isn’t kind the classes are held at the indoor studio in the spa.

There are three dining areas – the sophisticated Five Dining Room for breakfast and dinner, the aptly named ‘Fresh’ poolside restaurant with its white and light turquoise decor for lunch with a view, and the Tonic Bar for tapas and inventive cocktails which have funky pink and lilac lanterns for lighting.

The menus reflect the approach at Fusion Maia that life is about balance, and you can choose from a vast breakfast buffet that has lots of gluten and dairy free options should you need them or indulgent treats should you prefer them. Throughout the day there are light bites such as fresh spring rolls and green coconut soup alongside fresh salads and seafood options. The dinner menu embraces pan Asian flavours, inspired by the five elements and featuring clean Vietnamese dishes such as fresh grouper cooked in a clay pot and steamed clams served in a lemongrass broth. Fusion Maia even has its own Fusion Café in Hoi An for coffee and pastries.

All types of alcohol is available at most of the restaurants and you will see other guests sipping on cocktails or glasses of wine, but also many tasty fresh juice concoctions if you want to keep off the alcohol.
