What’s Queenly?

The food. Unless you already follow a raw organic vegan diet you are unlikely to have experienced anything quite like this before. An incredible range of dishes with a mind-blowing depth of flavours and textures. Less a catered retreat than a raw fine-dining experience brought to you by a private chef. Eat like royalty and feel like a picture a health.

What’s Lowly?

Yoga equipment is provided but no yoga classes. These would be a great addition to the raw food and cleansing. If you would like some yoga (and don’t have your own self-practise) you’d need to ring in advance and a local teacher can be arranged.

Retreat Activities

Come here for your very own private retreat. Everything is on offer from healthy holidays and cleanses to tailor-made therapeutic programmes for health, weight-loss, addiction and trauma recovery. Enjoy treatment rooms, a private pool, infra-red sauna, jacuzzi, the magnificent house, grounds and surrounding countryside.

In addition to eating clean (raw, vegan, organic) and delicious food, you can learn simple and workable techniques to improve your diet with dedicated nutrition and raw food workshops. You’ll also receive an introduction to natural detox methods such as tongue-scraping, oil pulling and dry skin brushing.

The retreat specialises in the Journey-method of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) with host Robin Goodwin, a practitioner of almost 20 years. NLP is used to access the subconscious and create new, healthy connections for the brain and body. Discover things that hold you back or address much deeper issues. Complemented by life-coaching, hypnotherapies, guided meditation, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Omni-healing.

Swim in the outdoor 12 metre, heated pool, use the sauna and jacuzzi, walk in the forest and among the vines, go for a run or a bike ride, use the yoga equipment or rebounders. Be as active or passive as you like. Pursuits such as horse-riding or wild swimming can be arranged upon request.

Enjoy homemade, raw food treatments for the hair, face and body. Think luscious bath salts and a papaya face mask so delicious you will be tempted to eat it. Use only natural organic shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, toners, moisturisers and face masks for the duration of your stay. Then wrap yourself up in Egyptian cotton sheets.

The Chateau also offers 3 night wellbeing workshop retreats on set dates for 4 to 6 people, with the option to stay longer if you want.  They include delicious, clean, vegan juices and meals, a one to one session each with Robin working on what ever you like (sleep, stress, past issues, allergies etc), use of the pool, sauna, and walks. All workshops cover learning techniques, making and tasting recipes. There is lots of advice and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and there are options to cover different themes such as Spring Cleanse and Gut Health, Upgrade Health & Downgrade Inflammation, and Prepare for Winter & Boost Immunity.

Perfect for a family or group of friends to learn how to have a healthier attitude to food along with easy substitutions for a healthier diet - and have time to have fun by the pool and relax too.

For those who want a follow up to the retreat or who cannot make it out there and don’t want to travel, the team offer Stay At Home retreats where they work one to one online (for about 3-4 hours a day) via skype or similar together with emails. They work with two people at a time, so places are limited to 4 people a month.

The team will cover whatever people need, which mostly turns out to be emotional support. They use a combination of NLP, trance work, hypnosis, life coaching plus a raft of other things such as EFT, The Sedona method and other self care teachings mainly to do with cleansing. They have worked with people who have suffered abuse, anxiety, loss, depression, burnout as well as people needing or wanting to lose weight, find themselves again, heal from various illnesses (often auto-immune related), substance abuse, self harming and to generally improve their life.

Stay At Home retreats are £1,900 for 5 days either consecutively or spread over a few weeks, consisting of 3 - 4 hours of one to one therapies a day via skype, plus extensive advice and information via email. One off consultations, via skype, of 2 - 4 hours are available £105 ph.

Personal spaces

Bedrooms: There are two sprawling master bedrooms used for the retreats, each with a large ensuite featuring a luxurious free-standing bath tub. The décor is classic French country style and entirely befitting of what is a very grand, 200 year-old house. Resplendent with wooden window shutters, crystal chandeliers, dramatic drapes and chaise longues.

Personal spaces

Private sitting rooms: The house has two large sitting rooms and when both bedrooms are booked each effectively has its own private lounge (if you’re there alone you can take your pick). You can expect vast, comfortable sofas and all mod-cons for those who like to Netflix and chill. There’s also a sizeable collection of books and DVDs.

Personal spaces

Other places to stay: Those with a penchant for glamping can enquire about a tepee with a wood-burning stove.

Insider Tips

Spend time getting to know your hosts – Desri and Robin’s experience and enthusiasm will inspire you. Go for walks among the forest and the vines and feel the connection with the place. Switch-off or keep the use of your tech to a minimum, you will not need or want the outside world.

It’s wonderful that the swimming pool is kept chemical free but this means you can’t wear sun tan lotion in the pool. It can be really hot there. If you are fair skinned and have a tendency to burn make sure you swim in the early or late hours of the day.

When to Go

April through to October offers the best of the weather but the beautifully furnished house makes for a very cosy escape in autumn and winter.

Shared places

Gardens, grounds and environs: The house is fronted by a small terrace and situated in sizeable, well-kept grounds with a diverse range of places to sit, eat, chill or workout. There are fruit trees and vegetable gardens and the grounds are surrounded by a beautiful forest and endless vines.

Shared places

Outdoor sitting room: One of the barns has been converted to provide an open-sided covered living area. It includes a dining table, sofas and plenty of space for gym and yoga equipment. Perfect for when the sun is it at hottest.

Pool and spa areas: The outdoor, heated pool is situated in a beautiful part of the gardens and there are sun-loungers on the terrace. There is a state-of-the-art, therapeutic, infra-red sauna and an excellent massage chair to use in the house.

Sustenance

There are lots of beautiful places to eat, from breakfast on the terrace, lunch by the pool to dinner in an outdoor dining room. You can also eat in the house, but eating outdoors heightens the senses.

You’ll be served raw, organic, vegan dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made by your host Desri Goodwin, a highly accomplished raw food chef who uses as much home-grown local produce as possible. From simple dips, dehydrated crackers and bountiful salads through to artisan raviolis, lasagnes and cheesecakes – all of it miraculously raw and unprocessed.

The retreat makes as much use of recycled and re-usable products as they can, and the food is sourced as locally and organically as is humanly possible. Rainwater is collected and food waste composted.

To say I am seasoned with retreats is probably too much. To say I am always looking for ways to self-develop and when the time is right I pull the trigger with retreats is probably more accurate. Like many people spending the time/money/energy we all want to know if it will “fix us”. In fact this is the question my husband asked when I was toying with the idea of Chateau de Mouillac. I’ll spoil the ending by getting straight to it. This was a changing experience.

I turned up on a Tuesday ready to spend 3 nights at Desri and Robin’s retreat. Slightly nervous, hugely unsure about what they could do in 3 days. I met Robin first who picked me up from the station and immediately felt at ease. We drove up to the beautiful grounds of the retreat in the countryside and was then introduced to Desri. Desri is warm, giving, nurturing and not in the least prescriptive. In fact quite the opposite. She and Robin recognise that most people do not want to be immediately lectured. They just got to know me. After settling into my beautiful room in a Manoir, I was ready for my long walk in the forest with the two of them. Already, I was thinking why did I book 3 days and not more, however, I hadn’t yet experienced any of the therapy side yet so I held my horses and waited to see what would happen. My sessions with Robin were amazing. One to one with a true expert who guides you beautifully into paths untrodden. We spoke about everything from childhood, to work, to relationships to managing life. He truly listens and everything I said felt like it was valid, even though I initially prefaced with “I only do this”, “I’m terrible at this”, “I don’t know if this is relevant”. Robin listened and carried out a robust plan of therapy including NLP, Omni Healing and various other techniques. Now, I have tried many types of holistic therapy and had great success with much of it, however, I will say that sitting in a room for hours per day with someone trustworthy and experienced like Robin is gold.

We had many breakthroughs and Robin persisted with different techniques until we hit the nail on the head so to speak. Everyone has their story so I won’t say too much about mine but the time with Robin changed me. You get the impression he will just keep putting energy into you, no matter how long it takes.

Now Desri’s food. I’m already a vegetarian and wasn’t too keen on the raw vegan diet as I wanted a fast weight loss and felt like juicing would be better and thought I had a handle on this side of things despite being so overweight that I can’t sit on certain chairs in our house. I’ve tried juicing before and it wasn’t better for me so I was so grateful that despite it being more work and expense for them, Desri gently suggested and persuaded that I eat solid food so that we could change my relationship with food. That she did. I honestly can’t remember a time when I enjoyed food so much without feeling guilty. Seriously, when Desri prepares food, it is a good assault on all the senses. At this point, I felt like the decent thing for them to do was adopt me and let me live with them. Thankfully, some of Desri’s skills rubbed off on me and I have continued to be raw vegan since. Don’t get too excited as it’s only been a few days that I have been home but my old self was quadruple carbing and licking nutella out of the bottle for breakfast. This lady does something with food that I can only put down to witchcraft. Did I mention they grow some of their own products? The evenings were spent in their superb massage chair, swimming in their outdoor pool, taking homemade bubble baths, slapping homemade papaya face masks on and generally ignoring calls from my 5 year old daughter and my loved ones. At this point, I felt like I was doing my family a favour by being there. I was literally vibrating when I left. The last time I felt anything resembling that was 6 margueritas in with a terrible hangover the next day. No hangover here plus I lost 4 pounds and some fat.

Overall, if you’re unsure then book. If you are sure then book. Just book it. Do it for yourself, for people around you and leave feeling re-born.

With my background in certain holistic therapies, I must admit, there was a side of me that thought I couldn’t learn anymore. Desri and Robin are such an incredible force for good. I am so grateful to them both for the care and safe place they offered me. And as I said, no hangover.

I luckily found this retreat as my teenage daughter needed some tools to reset herself. I had been looking for a long time to find somewhere safe to take a teenager, then this jumped out at me. A Blessing.
Sometimes you need immediate help and that is just not available in the Uk, even private health care, referrals can take months.
I obviously can not talk for my daughter but I totally felt she was in safe hands. She worked with Robin for 4-5 hours a day. Exactly what she requested. One hour a week of counselling was not hitting the mark.
Whilst I wasn’t there for me I still gained some valuable tools to take home with me.
A great place to reset.
In all honesty eating raw vegan food was a challenge for me as I am a meat eater. However I ate all the food ( my friends were shocked) that is a huge compliment to Desri. She takes so much care in providing quality varied dishes.
Thank you Robin and Desri for being there for my daughter and me.
Ps loved our walks!!!!

This retreat has truly has been a life changing experience and give it my highest recommendation. I felt totally supported, as if in a loving cocoon, by Desri and Robin throughout what I would now call an emotional transformation. I came to them feeling very unwell, full of anger, rage, sadness, hopelessness, and anxiety…so much so that, at the last minute, I felt unable to travel. I contacted Desri to let her know and she and Robin were so understanding and supportive and after I expressed that my main need from the retreat was the emotional therapy, we agreed to do the retreat via Skype. I do wish I had been well enough to experience Desri’s raw cuisine and the beautiful Chateau and grounds, but despite not physically being there, during my time with Robin and Desri each morning, I felt surrounded by the gentle and kind energy they both exude and really felt like I was there. Working with Robin was incredible. His calm and steady guidance through many difficult emotional processes kept me feeling safe and supported. As a result, I was able to go very deep and heal long-standing hurts and reframe these stories to allow me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Desri, then soothed and smoothed out the deep work that Robin did, which felt like having tea with a close, loving mentor who only had my best interest in mind. I worked through a colossal amount of issues in a week’s time and I really feel like I have come out on the other side. I can’t say enough about their kind, calm, and nurturing energy and how their care and genuine concern for me gave me the strength and support to tackle what was ailing me. I hope to be able to return and experience this retreat in all its splendor. Robin and Desri, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time, compassion, guidance and care. You have been a true blessing to me.

Such an incredible retreat. It’s hard to put into words the profound effects that Desri & Robin’s healing retreat has had on me. I arrived feeling totally drained & fatigued and returned home feeling energised & revitalised both mentally & physically. Thank you both for such a transformative few days, it is a truly personalised retreat from the moment you arrive.
An unbelievable experience that has realigned my mind-set; your enthusiasm has not only encouraged me to take positive steps towards my dream life but even my family have been inspired by my experience. How wonderful. #thisgirlcan
I highly recommend, if you’re thinking of going but feel nervous; don’t be..just book! I would love to come back for round 2. Thank you both so much x

When I thought about going on a retreat, I never quite imagined this. Desri and Robin could not be more open, honest, understanding, kind and invested in the individuals that attend their retreat. I went from feeling alone and disconnected from myself and the people I love, to feeling happy and confident in my own skin with courage and faith. Desri and Robin’s home is just beautiful and the meals that Desri prepares are sensational. Not only this but my sessions with Robin really opened my eyes and help me find peace, I am now able to see the world in a different way and put myself first. They really do truly devote their time to you, making you feel safe and most importantly accepted. It really became a second home to me in just a few days. Thank you both so much.

I wanted to recharge my batteries after a decade of running my own business, having two kids and moving from California to France. This retreat was so much more. I feel healthier, stronger, calmer and energized for my next chapter.

Living a fast-paced city life in Paris you easily forget how to slow down and touch base with yourself, prefering quick and easy convenience food and celebrating just getting from A to B each day, with no time left to unwind. Until you go to Chateau de Mouillac that is ! From the second we arrived we were taken care of – just enough to enable us to relax, without feeling uncomfortable – with a beautiful room to stay in in the stunning main house. We loved the space, inside and out, decorated with taste and definitely with comfort in mind. Food was out of this world, Desri has a real talent for creating scumptious raw food you really enjoy eating, without the stodge or regrets. Holiday food you feel good about! Both Robin and Desri were helpful during our stay, offer talks and treatments such as NLP, tailored to our needs that truly helped how we feel. The deep trance by Robin was definitely followed by one of the best nights of sleep I’ve ever had. We’ll be heading back for sure and 100% recommend.

Before I came to Chateau de Mouillac I felt truly hopeless and extremely depressed. I looked through hundreds of retreats to find something that would lift and improve me mentally and physically. I ended up deciding this was the best fit and I 100% made the right choice. I have been here for two out of my three weeks and already feel like a new person. Before I worked with Robin and Desri I felt small, sad, and anxious. Now I have plans to go see 3 large cities alone once I leave and move to a town I’ve always loved once I get home. My self confidence and self worth has skyrocketed and I truly couldn’t have chosen a better retreat. On top of that, the food is amazing and Desri is very receptive to your likes/dislikes and if you have a desire for weight loss she can cater to that too. Sessions with Robin have changed the way I view myself and my future possibilities for the better. They truly are a dynamic duo with a beautiful, peaceful home in the French countryside. If you are looking for a vacation combined with self improvement this is the place to go. I know I will always be thankful for the time I had here.
