Places to be
Sometimes we don’t have a specific agenda for our retreat. We just know we want to get away, but we don’t know what we want until we get there. The retreats we recommend in this section allow you to go with the flow, mix and match your activities, and be in charge of your own daily programme, with no strict timetable to follow. Most are open all year and many are small retreats – laid-back, light-hearted havens with access to a sauna, steam room and hot tub, where you can take each day as it comes. Some are fully-fledged destination spas, where you can live in a fluffy robe as long as you like and just chill, emerging from your room only for a massage or some rejuvenating yoga. Others are happy for you to take your family along, even if just one of you is doing the retreat activities. Set in stunning locations, they range from a Puglian farmhouse in Italy to a stylish retreat in the Tyrolean Alps. You might book a retreat on a working farm in the UK, or opt for a stay in the Swiss Alps, where you can go for leisurely walks and soak up nature. Take it easy and chill.
