Mountain Beach Fitness Retreats

Luxury, fun, challenging fitness retreats in incredible locations for happy bodies and minds

In a nutshell: These energising health and fitness retreats were created by personal trainers Emma Bodkin and Lottie Pridham, who believe that movement and exploration in nature is the perfect antidote to modern life. Their hand-picked, incredible locations enable them to use the natural environment as a playground for workouts, and they systematically design each day so it compliments the next. Luxury villas and chalets provide super comfortable accommodation for rest and recovery at the end of each day, complete with a private chef who creates balanced, fresh and nutritious meals. Aimed at all fitness levels, the mixed group retreats attract like-minded people. Bespoke retreats can also be created for private groups.

What’s Queenly?

Emma and Lottie bring a fun, dynamic approach in their teaching styles which is a breath of fresh air. They create an inclusive and open atmosphere, allowing clients to feel comfortable and relaxed. Their high energy sessions are also balanced with calming, more restorative sessions delivered by their experienced yoga teachers. You can arrange a bespoke retreat just for you and your friends/family.

What’s Lowly?

The week-long programme is intense and the energy high, so whilst sessions can be skipped, it won't suit complete fitness newbies.

Sustenance

Mixed group retreats offer a balanced, varied and healthy menu including all food groups. Fresh, locally sourced (as much as possible) and seasonal, the menu is created by experienced private chefs and balances fish, lean meat and vegetarian meals including some raw elements, all aimed at giving you new ideas for healthy eating using food items you can easily source back home. Caffeine is available, but no alcohol (except on retreats held at Watergate Bay hotel in Cornwall, UK). Sweet snacks are provided most days, although natural sugars are limited as much as possible. Personal dietaries are catered for. Menus for private tailor made retreats can be designed according to the groups preference, and can include alcohol.

Sustainability

As the main ethos is fitness in the natural environment, protecting and sustaining this is close to the company's heart. They limit the use of vehicles during the week, and use feet for transportation as much as possible. Leaving no trace when on hikes is imperative, and all rubbish is cleared away and then put though a recycling process back at the accommodation. All clients and the chef dispose of waste according to a specific recycling process. Plastic is limited as much as possible and for the most part they have managed to eliminate it, especially in the picnic lunches. Cleaning and spa products are eco-friendly. Local suppliers are used as much as possible, to help support the local community whilst also reducing the carbon footprint (ie for food transportation).

“I had a great week. It was everything I needed: nice location, great company, awesome food and a packed activity schedule. You even arranged for lovely weather. Thank you. I left feeling refreshed(!), yes really, motivated and in a really positive state of mind.”

“So years ago I took a holiday and the strap line was “give us your body and we’ll give you back your mind.” This describes perfectly the weekend I spent with you…. 2-3 days of great physical exertion… some of it hard core, smashing circuits on the beach, some of it lower key, stretching and flexing ..easing aches and pains and some of it just plain fun taking a dip in the sea at the end of the day… but all of it with great company, outstanding environment, breath-taking scenery at Watergate Bay, great food and the odd drink or two….  at the end of it I went away with that wonderful physically tired feeling but refreshed and renewed, recharged mentally to go back to the crazy whirl of everyday life.”

“Fantastic weekend at Watergate Bay! Just what I needed. I didn’t realise I’d got so used to doing my own stuff that it wasn’t really challenging me. This mini coastal retreat weekend felt so good from that point of view. Love the feeling of having really worked my body. Thank you ladies.”

“I fully credit you both with my transformation; the retreat was the kick up the backside I needed! I now work out 3 times a week (I even get up in the morning before work… unheard of!) and, hilariously, Brian and I are honeymooning by hiking, SUP-ing and running a half-marathon in Vancouver.”
