Meet contributor Louisa Carter
Louisa Carter is a professional freelance journalist and stylist who has been writing about food and travel for more than ten years. She writes the ‘Simple Suppers’ foodie column in Condé Nast’s House & Garden, features for BBC Good Food, Waitrose magazine, AOL Lifestyle, Australia & New Zealand Magazine and The Huffington Post, and has contributed to several books including healthy eating features for Body & Soul Escapes by Caroline Sylger Jones. Louisa has a special interest in organic, wholesome vegetarian food and, as a former chef and cookery teacher, pays particular attention to the quality of the cooking and ingredients when on retreat (she’s a big fan of Gaia House’s organic kitchen garden and their simple, mindful, communal approach to the preparation of each meal). It took Louisa a long time to learn how to hush the negative chatter in her mind and she now uses mindfulness, meditation, poetry, acupuncture and yoga to bring balance and peace into her pretty hectic life. She loves walking in wild places, laughing until it hurts, swimming (especially in beautifully designed salt water pools), and escaping to cool Northern climes as much as balmy beaches.
