Here you’ll find our reviews of breaks to help you get fit, tone up & lose weight, including dedicated fitness holidays that run on specific dates, healthy holidays and places to stay that offer fitness classes as part of a broader offer, specific programmes to help you lose weight, or access to Pilates or surfing. No ifs and buts about it, falling in love with exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health and happiness.
You can choose from all kinds of fitness holidays around the world – from wild fitness in Africa to boot camps in Dubai to taster weight loss weekends in England. Not sure which type of exercise you should be doing? A fitness break is often an ideal opportunity to try out lots of different types of exercise, and many will coax you into classes and concepts you’d never do at home. If you’ve ever wondered about Zumba, HIIT, circuits, salsa, Pilates, TRX or spinning – this is your chance to have a go. Or give sport a chance – from mountain biking to wild swimming, sea kayaking to volleyball, surfing to Stand Up Paddleboarding, you’re bound to find something that rocks your boat or gets your gears going.
A group fitness holiday (run at specific dates during the year) can be a huge motivator – you’re all in it together and can egg one another on (and compare aching muscles). Many are run by top trainers so you’ll get the latest, most effective, workouts. If your exercise mojo vanishes when the weather turns cold, head off for winter sunshine – some fitness retreats take place is sun-soaked locations – from Morocco to Oman. Don’t forget that many spa retreats and healing retreats will also offer fitness classes or fitness programmes as part of a broader offer, so do take a look at the retreats with fitness programmes or classes we’ve reviewed.
Most fitness holidays can cater for all levels of fitness, adapting their programmes to fit your body and your aspirations. So, regardless of whether you’re a triathlete or you’re venturing off the sofa for the first time, dive in and browse through. Just do it!
