The quick read: Asquith produces a well-made range of long-lasting, stylish basics for women that seem to go with just about anything – whatever you’re doing – be it travelling, shopping and generally living as well as yoga and Pilates. The company was founded in 2002 by Alice Asquith, who was inspired by a long line of creative women in her family who all designed and made their own clothes. Ethically-sourced, super-comfortable and reasonably priced, her pieces flatter all kinds of figures and offer a subtle alternative if you’re fed up with too-trendy, logo-led ranges.

How was it for us: I have been wearing a few key Asquith pieces as daily basics over the last few months and really enjoying their highly comfortable, good quality, stretchy, touchy-feely fit.

I have a pair of Smooth You leggings in Navy (£52) which have a natty little skirt at the top – ideal for covering everything up – which I wear quite happily all day with a top and long boots as well as during my yoga sessions.

A dove-coloured three-quarter sleeved Go To Tee (£49) seems to go with just about anything and is particularly great as an extra layer under a short sleeve dress or T shirt.

And I think I’ve found the perfect capsule wardrobe T Shirt too – the Asquith Everyday V Tee (£39), which I got in Verbena (a divinely subtle shade of purple). It’s just the right length, has a deep flattering V and holds up during a yoga class as well as when I’m lounging about.

I’ll certainly be back for more.

crownWhat’s queenly: Asquith’s fabrics. They use the best organic, ethically-grown, chemically-free and sustainable cotton and bamboo, and have invented their own blend of organic cotton, bamboo and elastane called Bambor. All let your skin breathe and are hard-wearing too.

What’s lowly: Some of the best basics don’t come in enough colours – the Everyday Tee currently only comes in Verbena and Rio Pink. More please!
