Caroline Sylger Jones is an experienced health & travel writer who’s been reviewing spas & retreats and writing about health & wellbeing for over 12 years – for newspapers such as The Times, The National, The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Independent, for magazines such as Elle, Tatler, Condé Nast Traveller and Wanderlust, and for private clients in the spa & healthy holiday industry. She is the author Body & Soul Escapes and Body & Soul Escapes: Britain & Ireland, travel resource books on spas, retreats and healthy holidays to suit all tastes and budgets (Footprint Books). Caroline first discovered the pleasures of massage, meditation and yoga as a travel writer in the late 1990s. She did her first detox in on Koh Samui in Thailand in 1999, her first yoga holiday at the Blue Beach in Dahab, Egypt in 2000 and her first 10 day silent meditation retreat at Surat Thani in Thailand in 2002. A yoga devotee, she did a two month introduction to Iyengar yoga teacher training with Australian teacher Glenn Ceresoli in 2007, and practices on a daily basis. She doesn’t have ideas above her station, honest, but she does think most of us take life too seriously and that instead we should aim for a life of balance. For her that includes quality time with her daughter & The King, lots of time doing nothing, daily yoga, absorbing novels, inspirational art, tasty food, regular massage, walks by the sea, champagne, green tea & water (in no particular order), kind thoughts and giant doses of solitude.
